kunst im kontakt / Sztuka Fabryka has started its international activities long ago in Mail-Art. Long before internet artists started to exchange their art by using regular post. One of the most known Mail-artists who had also connections with Fluxus was Robert Rehfeldt.

Recently we received from Wohlrab Verlag a book for our archive about Robert Rehfeld (1931 – 1993) his work and life. Robert Rehfeld worked and lived in the DDR. Since 1963 he had been working as an independent artist and was part of the experimenting artists in the eastern part of the town. In the beginning of the 1970s he came into contact with the international Mail Art scene via some Polish artists and Klaus Groh. He succeeded in building up an extensive network of contacts between East and West Europe, the USA and Latin America. Rehfeldt also cultivated a postal art exchange with artists from the closer Fluxus circle, like Wolf Vostell, Robert Filliou and Dick Higgins. In 1975 he asked artists from around the world to design a postcard. With this material he did the first Mail Art exhibition in East Berlin – taking his own exhibition at Galeria Teatru in Warsaw as a model. He inspired and supported the legendary Mail Art exhibitions at East Berlin gallery Arkade in 1978 and at EP-gallery of Jürgen Schweinebraden in 1979.

nothing to lose / exhibition / by biokip gallery / report /

> a few weeks ago / sztuka fabryka was invited to take part in / the nothing to lose artshow / organised by biokip gallery / and taking place at assab one / milan / italy // biokip is a trio with a low profile / none the less with lots of activities on their resume / from organising parties and exhibitions towards the creation of music / t-shirt releases and design / name it and they do it // hard working boys / who do not care with who they work with / from professional big / till unknow artists // as long as they feel good with the artist / they will move heaven and earth to let you do your thing for their gig //

> sztuka fabryka was invited to come over and paint a piece / which will be along with other paintings part of the exhibition // the show had a theme where we had to work on / future / a very strict theme as it focused on how the youth will learn from the past to make a better future // a not to difficult piece was asked / read a non conceptual piece / so that all visitors would be able to understand the piece // beside that the design had to be horizontal 2 meters wide and 1,5 meters high // with a blue band with certain sizes on both sides of the painting // lots of mind blowing restrictions and demands / but for us an excellent opportunity / to dig deep in our creativity //

> the piece we have realised / is based on our mindmaps / starting from a statement – future can be made – many other ideas come popping up / divided in three levels // we have chosen to use primary colours / a kind of billboard which looks as it is bad printed as if there was no black colour available // one of our most finest pieces we have made lately // our greetings goes towards the biokip team for the opportunity, the professionality and hospitality we have encountered / and to assab one for the fine moments at their premises //
